Outfield is a neighbourhood café built on simple things done well - great coffee, wholesome food, and a genuine sense of community. Sitting on the outfield of Yeo Park, with a view across the little cricket field, Outfield began its life in 2019 as a place where locals, families, dog-walkers, and weekend wanderers came together for specialty coffee, brunch and special occasions. During COVID, Outfield pivoted and adapted with the changing times and now focuses more on the great outdoors, building a new covered deck that overlooks the park, and provides a great place for locals to gather outside, sharing great coffee and simple, seasonal food, designed to be enjoyed in the park as the modern-day take on picnics.
Outfield is owned and operated by Caleb and Belinda Maynard. Caleb has spent more than two decades shaping some of Sydney’s most loved cafés, from founding one of Marrickville’s first cafés, Kelby’s, to managing the award-winning Circa Espresso in Parramatta, and helping several new café owners get started and develop their business. Belinda is mostly behind the scenes, leaning on her background in brand and marketing to bring the vision to life and keep it evolving with the times.
As local inner-westies, they’re deeply community-minded and work closely with local businesses, council, schools, and youth programs to help create a vibrant, welcoming neighbourhood cafe. Together with a great team and the support of wonderful neighbours and community, they have brought new life to a quiet corner of Yeo Park, turning the former baby health centre into a warm and inviting place to gather. They believe local cafés are an extension of the neighbourhood, a place that sparks conversation, supports locals, and brings people together.
